What is upper GI endoscopy?
This procedure enables us to visualize the inside of a pet's esophagus, stomach, and small intestine by navigating through the GI tract with a camera on the end of a long, flexible tube. Instruments can be inserted through the camera to obtain small samples of tissue (biopsies) or to retrieve foreign material. This procedure is often recommended to help in the evaluation of pets who are vomiting, experiencing diarrhea, or are unwilling to eat. Conditions which can be diagnosed with this procedure are:
  • Inflammatory Bowel Disease
  • GI Lymphoma
  • Stomach Ulcers or Tumors
  • Foreign Bodies
