What is a CT scan?
This is an advanced imaging modality that employs computer processing to create a 3-dimensional picture. This allows us to see internal structures in great detail, and often provides more information than a 2-dimensional x-ray. Internal medicine frequently uses this imaging method to obtain images of the brain or the inside of the nasal passages. This test is most often used in the evaluation of patients with seizures or other neurologic abnormalities, and in the evaluation of patients with nasal (nose) disease.
